Voting has commenced in the Palakkad Assembly constituency, starting at 7 AM today and continuing until 6 PM. Covering areas including Palakkad Municipality, Pirayiri, Kannadi, and Mathur panchayats, the constituency has set up 184 polling booths to accommodate its 1,94,706 registered voters. Among them, 1,00,290 are women voters.
The voter demographics include 2,306 individuals over the age of 85, 2,445 first-time voters aged 18-19, 780 differently-abled persons, and 4 transgender voters. Additionally, 229 expatriate voters are on the rolls. Special arrangements are in place to allow elderly and differently-abled voters to cast their votes without standing in queues.
The constituency is witnessing a fierce triangular battle between BJP’s C. Krishnakumar, Congress candidate Rahul Manghuttam, and CPI(M)-backed independent P. Sarin. The outcome of this highly anticipated contest is eagerly awaited across Kerala.
