The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed a chargesheet naming the parents of the two minor sisters in the Walayar case as accused. They have been charged with abetment of sexual assault under the POCSO and IPC Acts. The chargesheet was submitted to the Ernakulam CBI court.
Earlier, the High Court had ordered a detailed investigation into the case. While the initial chargesheet named some local residents as accused, the court had rejected it, directing further investigation. Following the new inquiry, the parents were implicated in the case.
Reports suggest that the parents were aware of the abuse their children faced, leading to charges of abetment to suicide. The chargesheet also states that the parents remained silent about the incidents and failed to inform the police in time.
