Woman guard attacked in train, mobile phone and cash stolen

Chennai: A Malayali woman guard was attacked and robbed of mobile phone, money and documents. Rakhi (28), a native of Kollam, was attacked near Madurai on Monday evening. The incident occurred in a train that was going from Salem to Madurai without passengers after maintenance.

The accused are two minors in the incident. One of them was caught. Mobile phone was recovered from him. The robbers boarded the Koodal Nagar Vaigai railway bridge when it stopped to receive a signal. Rakhi was injured in the forehead as she tried to defend herself from the attack.

They were undergoing treatment at the Railway Hospital and left the hospital on Tuesday evening. The officials of Madurai division responded that they were able to take action against the robbers within 24 hours of the incident.
