Sivasankar taken into custody by ED

Kerala Chief Minister’s former Principal Secretary M.S. Sivasankar taken into custody by Enforcement Directorate few minutes back. The anticipatory bail plea submitted by Sivasankar was rejected by Justice Ashok Menon accepting the central agencies’ argument that if the influential Shiv Shankar was granted bail, the evidence could be destroyed. Based on this, the court rejected the bail application today. Meanwhile, Sivasankar was undergoing an Ayurvedic treatment in a private hospital in Trivandrum.

Enforcement told the court that Sivasankar misused his power in the Chief Minister’s office for smuggling and he is also not cooperating with the investigation. Customs also told the court that further questioning would be required. This was accepted by the court. This is a setback for the government and the CPI (M).
