Aadhaar Authority: Photos with hijabs are not allowed in Aadhaar; images where the ears and forehead are not clearly visible will be rejected

Aadhaar: Hijab-wearing photos should not be included in Aadhaar. Photos without ears and forehead visible will be rejected in Aadhaar. Authorities have instructed Akshaya Vujan to not take photos of those applying for Aadhaar services wearing headscarves. The directive comes from the state authorities of the Aadhaar Authority (UIDAI).

The instructions are to make sure that the ears are visible and not to take photos wearing a hijab. The instructions to Akshaya entrepreneurs are given via WhatsApp. Turbans and hats worn in connection with religious and traditional rituals could be used while taking photos. However, many applications for taking photos in this way were rejected.

Akshaya entrepreneurs who violate the directive will be punished with suspension and fine. The directive issued by the state authorities of the Aadhaar Authority (UIDAI) was conveyed to the entrepreneurs by the Akshaya Project authorities via WhatsApp.

Earlier, the Aadhaar conditions did not require complete removal of headscarves. The condition was that headscarves should not be worn in a way that covers the face.
