ABVP achieves a historic victory in the JNU Students’ Union elections.
Vaibhav Meena of ABVP was elected as the Joint Secretary. Out of the 42 councilor seats, ABVP secured 23.
This is one of the biggest victories ever achieved by a student organization in the history of JNU. ABVP even won two seats in the School of Social Sciences and the School of International Studies — both traditionally strongholds of the leftist groups.
After 25 years, ABVP managed to win two out of five councilor seats in the School of Social Sciences. Similarly, they won two out of five seats in the School of International Studies. Both these victories are seen as significant milestones in ABVP’s history.
ABVP also swept all four seats in the School of Engineering, all three seats in the School of Sanskrit and Indic Studies, and both seats in the Special Centre.
Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Management and Entrepreneurship, School of Nano Sciences, and Special Centre for Molecular Medicine — ABVP won one seat each in these schools.
In the School of Biotechnology, School of Computational and Integrative Sciences, and School of Environmental Sciences, ABVP won one seat each out of two.
In the School of Computer and System Sciences and School of Physical Sciences, ABVP won two out of three seats.
Surendra Bishnoi won unopposed for the sole seat in the School of Biotechnology.
Praveen Piyush, Raj Babu, and Prachi Jaiswal won unopposed for the three seats in the School of Sanskrit and Indic Studies.
Govardhan Singh also won unopposed for the seat at the Special Centre for Molecular Medicine.
