The Ministry of Home Affairs will assess the situation following the expiry of the deadline for Pakistani citizens to return from India. It has been observed that not even half of them have returned. The central government will seek data from the states. The return of citizens from both countries is taking place in the backdrop of the Pahalgam terror attack.
Currently, the government only has records of those who crossed through the Attari border. According to official data, 537 individuals have left India. Meanwhile, the validity of medical visas will expire tomorrow. Pakistani citizens were given time until 10 PM last night to leave the country.
So far, according to official figures, 537 Pakistanis have returned via the Attari border, including six individuals from Kerala. Just yesterday alone, 237 Pakistani citizens returned.
In response to India’s directive, Pakistan had also announced a repatriation drive, under which 850 Indians have returned through the Attari border.
Meanwhile, the notice issued to three individuals in Kozhikode demanding that they leave the country has been withdrawn by the police today. These individuals are families who have been residing in Kerala on long-term visas.
At the same time, the United States continues to express its solidarity with India. The US State Department has condemned the Pahalgam attack, reaffirmed its support for India, and emphasized the need for a responsible solution. The US also stated that it is in contact with both countries and is closely monitoring the situation.
