Actor Siddique Granted Anticipatory Bail in Rape Case by Supreme Court

The Supreme Court, in a ruling by a bench comprising Justices Bela Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma, granted anticipatory bail to actor Siddique in a rape case. The court noted that the complaint was filed eight years after the alleged incident, among other observations.

Considering the sensitivity of the case, the two-judge bench refrained from commenting further in its order. The alleged incident is said to have occurred in 2016, but the complaint was only lodged around eight years later. In 2018, the complainant posted allegations against 14 individuals, including Siddique, on Facebook. However, the Supreme Court highlighted that the complainant had not submitted any statement to the Hema Committee, formed by the Kerala government to investigate similar issues.
