Kalpetta: James, who has been protesting in front of the Wayanad Collectorate over a land issue for the past 9 years, attempted suicide. A part of his protest tent collapsed during the protest organized by the Muslim League. Following this, James, in a fit of rage, tried to set himself on fire by pouring petrol.
The police and activists intervened and calmed the situation. The protest tent was restored. The Kanjiratthala family is protesting demanding the return of 12 acres of land that was unjustly seized by the Forest Department. The family started protesting in front of the Collectorate on August 15, 2015.
