Chief Minister Criticizes Marthanda Varma and Sanatana Dharma

Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan mocked Marthanda Varma and Sanatana Dharma. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that Sree Narayana Guru was not a proponent of Sanatana Dharma. The Chief Minister alleged that Marthanda Varma tried to establish a Hindu Rashtra in Travancore and made such reforms.

The Chief Minister’s words were extremely insulting to Hindu religion and its ideals. The Chief Minister made the remarks while inaugurating the 92nd Sivagiri Pilgrimage Conference. The Chief Minister also said that the guru, who was a social reformer, is being portrayed as a religious ascetic.

Sree Narayana Guru was not a proponent or practitioner of Sanatana Dharma. The Guru tried to challenge Sanatana Dharma. He was a monk who tried to destroy that Dharma. Sanatana Dharma is based on the four castes. The Guru tried to challenge this. How can a Guru who said one caste, one religion, one God, be a proponent of Sanatana Dharma?

The Chief Minister also made attempts to belittle the epic Mahabharata. The Mahabharata is a product of the era when the caste system was replaced by the caste system. It also does not answer the question of dharma. The sons of dharma who say they fought a war of dharma go to heaven in their bodies and then meet Duryodhana, who is accused of fighting a war of unrighteousness. And so on, the Chief Minister’s words.

The Chief Minister’s speech proceeded in a manner that insulted the Travancore dynasty and Hinduism. He proclaimed the many reforms carried out by Marthanda Varma in Travancore as an eternal state. What is intended to be established through the term “eternal Hinduism” is the period of monarchy under the old Brahmin rule.

Lokasamastha Sukhino Bhavantu is a phrase used to highlight Hindutva. The Chief Minister also mocked whether Hindutva was the only one to come up with such a noble phrase. The Chief Minister’s speech was delivered with monks seated on the stage. It was also noteworthy that SNDP Yogam General Secretary Vellappally Natesan gave a reply to the Chief Minister on the same stage.
