Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially inaugurated the Vizhinjam International Seaport terminal. The inauguration took place in the presence of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, Minister for Ports V.N. Vasavan, Members of Parliament, and other dignitaries.
The Prime Minister began his speech by expressing his happiness in Malayalam, saying he was glad to have arrived in the land of Anantha Padmanabha.
He stated that the Vizhinjam Deepwater Seaport stands amidst a vast ocean full of immense potential and scenic natural beauty. “I congratulate the people of Kerala and the entire nation,” he said. “Vizhinjam is a symbol of new development. The world’s largest cargo ships will dock here. Until now, 70% of India’s transshipment was handled by ports in other countries. With Vizhinjam becoming a reality, that revenue will now remain within our own country,” the Prime Minister added.
