Continued Rain; Closure of Educational Institutes in Eight Districts

Thiruvananthapuram: Warning that rain will continue in Kerala today. Another low pressure is likely to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal by July 19. Orange alert has been announced in five districts tomorrow. Orange alert in Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur and Kasaragod districts. Seven districts are on yellow alert. Yellow alert has been issued in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad districts. Holidays have been declared for educational institutions in eight districts.

Central Meteorological Department has declared orange alert in these districts. Chance of heavy rain at isolated places is predicted. Very Heavy Rainfall means 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm of rain in 24 hours, according to the Meteorological Department.

Central Meteorological Department has announced yellow alert in these districts. Chance of isolated heavy rain is forecast. Heavy rain refers to rainfall of 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours. Heavy rains can create hazards. Heavy rainfall is expected in a short period of time. It may cause flash floods and flash floods. Waterlogging is also likely to occur in urban areas and low-lying areas in general. Continued rainfall may trigger landslides and landslides.
