ED raid at the offices of businessman and producer Gokulam Gopalan. The raids are being conducted at his offices in Chennai, Kochi, and Kozhikode. Reports suggest that the Enforcement Directorate (ED) is carrying out a detailed inspection based on allegations of violations of FEMA (Foreign Exchange Management Act). The investigation is led by ED Deputy Director Rajesh Nair.
Gokulam Gopalan is the producer of the controversial movie Empuraan. He took over the production after Lyca Productions withdrew from the project. Following the film’s release, there was significant controversy over scenes depicting the Gujarat riots.
Gokulam Gopalan had earlier stated that he decided to collaborate on Empuraan because he believed that audiences should not miss a film featuring beloved actors. He also mentioned that if the film had caused distress to anyone, he had asked the director, Prithviraj, to take appropriate action.
