Union Minister Suresh Gopi responded to the passage of the Waqf Amendment Bill in both the Lok Sabha and the Rajya Sabha. He stated that Waqf is an institution meant for good, but its barbaric practices have been put to an end. This will also benefit the Muslim community. “This barbarism has now been eradicated in India. The passage of the bill will also be beneficial for Munambam. There is no basis for any concerns,” he said.
“Ask impartial and rational people. Wasn’t it the opposition that tried to divide the people? Didn’t they claim in Parliament that this would harm Muslims? As for the question of whether the amendment has retrospective effect—wait, sir. Weren’t you the ones who said this bill would never come?” Suresh Gopi responded.
He also addressed questions regarding the Jabalpur incident. He stated that violence had occurred on both sides and alleged that the Christian community’s unity had caused unease among certain individuals, leading to their absence from the issue. When asked whether he was justifying the Jabalpur incident, Suresh Gopi reacted strongly. He warned the journalist to be cautious about whom they were questioning. “Be careful. Legal action will be taken regarding what happened in Jabalpur. I have no further comments on other questions,” he said
