Hybrid cannabis hunt in Alappuzha; More accused likely to be arrested

Two individuals, including a woman, were arrested in Alappuzha recently with hybrid cannabis worth ₹1.5 crore. More arrests are likely to follow in connection with the hybrid cannabis hunt case. Investigative sources suggest that the team has received information about the person who supplied the hybrid cannabis to Taslima. The investigation is now focused on two Malayalis operating from Dubai and Bengaluru.

One of them has previously been arrested in drug-related cases. Another woman reportedly rented a car for Taslima, and investigators are checking whether she had any involvement in drug dealings. If necessary, she will be added as an accused. The State Intelligence Department has also gathered information regarding the case.

The Excise team has begun an investigation to identify more links in the hybrid cannabis network. Taslima Sultana, one of the accused, has been active in the film industry for years. She works as a script translator and is proficient in eight languages. Deputy Excise Commissioner S. Vinod Kumar revealed yesterday that the accused mentioned the names of two film actors.

Investigations are now looking into the accused’s connections with these actors. If necessary, notices will be issued to summon the film stars for questioning. The Excise team stated that the accused were engaged in high-tech drug transactions, mostly through WhatsApp and Instagram accounts. The mobile phone data of the accused will be collected soon.
