Hamas Warns: Hostages Will Not Be Released Without a Ceasefire

Hamas has issued a stern warning, stating that hostages will not be released unless the ongoing war comes to an end. Khalil al-Hayya, a senior Hamas leader, emphasized that there will be no agreement to release captives in exchange for a ceasefire if Israel does not take steps to end the conflict.

Negotiations mediated by third parties are reportedly ongoing. “We support the continuation of these talks, but their progress is being obstructed by [Israeli Prime Minister] Netanyahu,” al-Hayya alleged.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, during a recent visit to Gaza, declared that Hamas would have no future in governing Palestine if the war continues. The visit was reportedly aimed at gaining a firsthand understanding of developments in the ground offensive.

Al-Hayya reiterated that ending the war should be the priority, with the release of hostages being considered only afterward. “If Israel is unwilling to stop the aggression, there is no reason to release the captives,” he stated.
