Harassment Case Against Balachandra Menon: High Court Grants Anticipatory Bail

Kochi: Following the release of the Hema Committee report, serious allegations were raised against several actors. In connection with a complaint by an actress from Aluva, the High Court has granted anticipatory bail to actor and director Balachandra Menon.

The interim anticipatory bail, earlier granted until November 21, has now been extended under the same plea. Menon argued that the allegations were part of an attempt to intimidate and extort money from him.

Highlighting that the incident allegedly occurred 17 years ago, Justice P.V. Kunhikrishnan noted in the order that Balachandra Menon, a recipient of the Padma Shri, is a respected figure and emphasized that dignity is important for both men and women.

The case against Menon was filed by the Thiruvananthapuram Cantonment Police based on the actress’s complaint, alleging misconduct during a film shoot.
