High Court rejects bail plea of the accused in the Shahbaz murder case

The High Court rejected the bail plea of the accused in the Shahbaz murder case, which occurred following a student clash in Thamarasheri. The court stated that none of the six students would be granted bail. It observed that granting bail could pose a security threat to the students. The court further assessed that bail is not a right at all stages, and granting it would pose a threat to public order and endanger the lives of the children.

Shahbaz’s father had joined the petition opposing the bail. After the Kozhikode District Sessions Court denied bail, the accused approached the High Court. The defense argued that the petitioners, who are minors, had been in custody for weeks and thus should be granted bail. However, the government informed the court that the petitioners were not in custody but were placed in a juvenile home in Kozhikode. In this context, the High Court issued its order rejecting the bail plea.
