Impurities found in Jawan rum, the sale of 11.5 lakh liters of liquor was frozen

Kochi: Excise on sale of 17 batches of Jawan rum has been suspended. The action follows the discovery of impurities in the popular liquor Jawaan. The sale of 11.5 lakh liters of liquor has been frozen. The excise action was taken on the complaint of a customer who noticed impurities in the liquor bought from the Vaniyakkad Beverages outlet in North Paravur.

Impurity was found in batches of Jawan Triple X Rum 297, 304, 308, 309, 315, 316, 319 and 324 and in batches of Jawan Triple X Rum 307, 322, 267, 328, 312, 292, 200, 164 and 293 at the Varapuzha outlet. The inspection at the Vaniyakkad outlet was under the supervision of the Deputy Commissioner of Excise, Ernakulam. Beverages employees say that this type of waste is seen in beer but it is the first time in Jawawan.

Bottles were replaced at the outlets that noticed spots on the liquor bottles. The report was forwarded to the Excise Commissioner. All outlets are advised to check Jawan. The sample will be tested in the lab.
