Income Tax Department issues notice to Prithviraj, directs him to provide details of his remuneration

Following the controversies surrounding Empuraan, actor Prithviraj has received a notice from the Income Tax Department. The department has sought clarification regarding the remuneration from three films — Kaduva, Jana Gana Mana, and Gold.

Prithviraj had not received payment as an actor in these films. However, findings suggest that he earned around ₹40 crore in his capacity as a co-producer.

The Income Tax Department has asked for clarity regarding the money received under the banner of his production company. The department clarified that this is part of a routine procedure.

Notably, this move against Prithviraj, who is also the director of Empuraan, comes in the backdrop of ED raids on establishments owned by Gokulam Gopalan, the owner of Gokulam Movies — the distributors of Empuraan.
