The Kerala High Court granted bail to CPI(M) leader P.R. Aravindakshan and former Karuvannur Cooperative Bank accountant P.K. Jills in connection with the Karuvannur bank scam. Both had been in judicial custody for over a year.
Justice C.S. Dias ruled on the bail applications, considering the prolonged detention and potential delays in trial proceedings. Earlier, Aravindakshan, a Vadakkanchery municipality member, was granted interim bail to attend his daughter’s wedding.
Aravindakshan was accused by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) of being a middleman in financial transactions linked to Satheesh Kumar, the main accused in the scam. He was arrested from his residence in Thrissur’s Parlikkad on September 26, 2023.
