The Kerala High Court has imposed a ban on protests at Sabarimala and Pampa, including the type of strike carried out by Dolly workers. The court issued strict directions, stating that such protests should not be repeated in the future.
The protest was sparked by the decision of the Devaswom Board to implement a prepaid system for the Dolly service. Under the new system, workers were to charge Rs. 4,000 for loads up to 80 kg, Rs. 5,000 for 100 kg, and Rs. 6,000 for loads above 100 kg. The Devaswom Board also set a charge of Rs. 125. Workers protested, claiming that the existing charges were insufficient. The strike was called off after assurances from the ADMM that discussions would take place.
