In a news article related to an unlawful assets case, Manorama used the photo of actor Manikanthan Achari, which led to legal action being taken against the publication by the actor. The news appeared in the Malappuram edition of *Malayala Manorama* and was about Manikanthan Achari, who is both an actor and a motor vehicle department official. However, the photo used was that of Manikanthan Achari, which he had shared on social media with the caption “The wealth of my home.”
Manikanthan Achari responded to the incident through social media, expressing his frustration: “Manorama should have known whose photo it was. I’m starting to doubt if they don’t know me. The misuse of my photo has deeply affected me. I learned about it when I was called by the director of a Tamil movie I’m set to work on next month. A friend from Kerala told me that I was arrested, and that’s when I realized that it wasn’t me. If they had considered casting someone else because they thought I had been arrested, I would have lost that opportunity. I don’t know how many opportunities I might lose in the future.”
He further added, “I will move forward legally. I have never been involved in any wrongdoing in my life. I am cautious at every moment to avoid any bad reputation. Manorama easily gave me a bad name, and for that, I would like to say thank you and offer a good namaste.”
