Martyred Pilot Samir Abrol’s Wife Garima Is Now A Flying Officer With Indian Air Force

Garima Abrol, wife of Squadron leader Samir Abrol who was martyred in the Mirage 2000 fighter plane crash last year, completed her training from Air Force Academy on Saturday, according to Defence PRO, Shillong. She is now an Indian Air Force Officer.

Abrol was conferred with the ‘President’s Commission’ along with 114 other Flight cadets of flying and ground duty branches. She was amongst 21 graduating officers. She decided to join the Indian Air Force as a tribute to her martyred husband. Five months after her husband’s death, in July 2019 she cracked the Service Selection Board (SSB) interview and joined the academy at Dundigal. Flying Officer Garima Abrol successfully completed the professional training at the Air Force Academy, Dundigal. Samir Abrol and Siddhartha Negi made a bid to eject from the Mirage 2000 trainer aircraft, but they were caught in flames as the plane crashed with a huge explosion soon after taking off inside the HAL airport.
