More details have emerged in the case of a two-year-old girl being thrown into a well in Balaramapuram. Police say the accused Harikumar had a personal enmity with the child’s mother, Sreetu. The accused had previously complained about the two-year-old girl crying. It is learnt that Harikumar had also harassed the eight-year-old’s eldest child, Poornendu, several times. The police have also decided to investigate the financial dealings of the mother, Sreetu, in the incident.
Even though they were in adjacent rooms in the same house, Sreetu and Harikumar used to send WhatsApp messages and video calls. Both of them deleted the messages from the day before the murder. The police also say that there are mysteries in their behavior.
The police say that personal enmity with his sister led the accused to murder the toddler. The police also checked the WhatsApp chats of Harikumar and Sreetu the other day. Locals say that there were family problems between Sreetu and her husband.
Sreetu’s financial dealings and the rope knots found near the house had raised suspicions at the initial stage. The initial postmortem report also revealed that the child died by drowning. The postmortem report corroborated Harikumar’s statement.
The arrest of the child’s uncle Harikumar in the case was recorded the day before. The police have decided to add more people as accused if necessary after the recording of statements is completed. Harikumar was the assistant of a priest in Alappuzha. This priest will also be questioned.
