New Delhi: The Budget Session of Parliament begins today. President Droupadi Murmu will address the joint session of both the Houses today. The Economic Survey will be presented after the President’s speech. The Union Budget will be presented tomorrow. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the second budget of the third Modi government.
The first phase of the budget session will last till February 13. The second phase will start from March 10 and will last till April 4. Ahead of the budget session, an all-party meeting was held yesterday under the chairmanship of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. Representatives from 36 parties attended the meeting. He sought the support of all parties for the smooth conduct of the budget session.
Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present the Pre-Budget Economic Survey with projections for economic growth. The Economic Survey will also review the economic issues of the past year. The survey will also analyse trends in agriculture, industrial production, infrastructure, employment, inflation rate, trade, foreign exchange reserves and other economic sectors.
