My Dear Kuttychatthan child star and Telugu film director Suriyakiran passed away

CHENNAI: My dear Kuttychatthan child actor and popular Telugu film director Suriyakiran (48) has passed away. He died while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Chennai due to jaundice. Suriyakiran was one of the child actors in My Dear Kuttychatthan, the first film shot in 3D. He died while preparing for the release of the film Arasi, which he directed after a long gap.

He first acted in the 1978 film Lakkeman Oru Penna. He acted in many films like Maungeethanal, Satyabhama, Patikathavan etc. After acting in more than 200 films as a child actor, he turned to directing. In 2003, he turned to directing with the film Satyam. Other films he has directed are Dhana 51, Brahmastram, Raju Bhai and Chapter 6. He was also a contestant in Bigg Boss Season-4 2020.

Actress Kaveri was Suriyakiran’s wife. They later broke up. Surya Kiran, who was away from public places after her divorce, made her comeback through Bigg Boss. In a recent interview with a YouTube channel, he talked about his film career. Suriyakiran’s sister is actress Sujitha, who has acted in many Malayalam films.
