Prime Minister Narendra Modi, speaking during the Parliament’s Winter Session, launched a sharp critique against the Congress, accusing the party of disrespecting democratic principles and Parliament. “Those repeatedly rejected by the people are showing disregard for both Parliament and democracy,” Modi remarked.
Expressing his hopes for meaningful discussions during the session, Modi emphasized the importance of Parliament in the democratic framework. “Parliament and its members are integral to our Constitution. Healthy debates should take place, with greater participation from all. Unfortunately, some individuals, for personal political gains, attempt to disrupt Parliament by creating chaos among a few,” he stated.
Highlighting the significance of this Winter Session, Modi noted that it coincides with the 75th anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution, adding a sense of uniqueness to the proceedings.
The session, set to conclude on December 20, is expected to see the introduction of 16 bills, including the highly speculated One Nation, One Election Bill, as well as amendments to the Wakf Act and the Disaster Management Act.
As part of the Constitution Day celebrations, a special event will be held tomorrow in the Central Hall of the old Parliament building. President Droupadi Murmu, Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, and PM Modi will attend the ceremony. The event will also include the release of Constitution editions in Sanskrit and Maithili, along with commemorative stamps and coins. Celebrations are also planned at the Supreme Court premises.
