The Thiruvananthapuram Cantonment Police registered a case based on a complaint filed by the Child Rights Commission.

Following the news of the girl participating in the Oppana competition at the Kalolsavam, the remarks made by the presenter and others became controversial. After the allegations were raised, the Child Welfare Department sought an explanation in the incident. After this, the Director of the Women and Child Welfare Department filed a complaint with the DGP. The DGP forwarded the complaint to the Cantonment Police. The FIR states that the news and discussion were prepared in a way that tarnished the self-esteem of the minor girl.

This is also a victory for the fight waged by Adv Krishnaraj and his junior lawyers. It is being pointed out as the latest example of government-sponsored cultural degradation in Kerala.
