Spadex Docking Success: ISRO Creates New History

ISRO has achieved another historic feat in the field of space. The first space docking experiment in the country’s history, SPADEX, has been successful. This morning, the chaser and target satellites of the SPADEX mission joined hands in space and became one. With this, India has become the fourth country to join two satellites in space.

ISRO was able to dock the satellites in space in its fourth attempt after the launch. Space docking is an essential technology for ISRO for projects including India’s own space station, the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO).

Two satellites, Chaser and Target, were launched simultaneously on December 30. The goal was to assemble the 220 kg satellites in space. The docking was initially scheduled for January 7 and then January 9, but was postponed due to various reasons. Scientists conducted the experiment with great caution. While there were challenges throughout, ISRO was able to write history by accurately docking the satellites.
