The police have opposed the bail application of Nobi Lucas, the accused in the Ettumanoor incident in which a mother and her daughters jumped in front of a train and died. The police have filed a report in the court stating that if the accused is released on bail, he will destroy evidence and affect the investigation. The Ettumanoor court had considered Nobi’s bail application yesterday.
The deceased were parishioner Shiny Kuriakose (43) and his daughters Alina (11) and Ivana (10). Nobi was later arrested. The mobile phones of Nobi and Shiney are the main evidence in the case. The results of the scientific examination of both of them are yet to be released. The Ettumanoor court will decide on Nobi’s bail application tomorrow.
Meanwhile, the Knanaya Church has complained that the death of Shiny and her children is being vilified on social media and online channels. The church also complains that there is an attempt to discredit the archdiocese, the diocesan president, and the Caritas Hospital. The church has filed a complaint with the Kottayam SP, seeking action against the vilification campaigns. The church has also demanded a comprehensive investigation into the death of Shiney and her children.
