Rajeev Chandrasekhar has sent a legal notice to Shashi Tharoor, accusing him of making defamatory statements

Thiruvananthapuram: NDA candidate Rajeev Chandrasekhar has taken legal action against UDF candidate Shashi Tharoor in Thiruvananthapuram. The NDA candidate’s lawyer has sent a notice stating that false propaganda is being spread against him. The basis of the complaint is the statement made by Shashi Tharoor against Rajeev Chandrasekhar in an interview that he was influencing voters by paying people including priests. This statement is requested to be withdrawn.

Following Tharoor’s allegations, Rajeev Chandrasekhar had also approached the Election Commission. Rajeev Chandrasekhar had earlier responded that no one can go by saying anything and when an allegation is made, one should show effort to convince the people of its facts. Rajeev Chandrasekhar intensified the legal proceedings when Shashi Tharoor was not ready to respond on this issue even after a week of making the statements.

The demand is to retract the statement and apologize within 24 hours of receiving the notice. ‘Don’t make false statement. If there is evidence in the statement, it should be produced. Otherwise, the NDA candidate pointed out that there was an attempt to humiliate the UDF candidate. The complaint given to the Election Commission was that he was trying to create division in the society by making a false statement.
