Renowned Ayurvedacharya Balaji Tambe passed away

Renowned Ayurvedacharya Balaji Tambe passed away following a brief illness at a private hospital in Pune on Tuesday. He was 81, family sources said. He had been ailing for over a week and had been admitted to the hospital but did not respond to the medical treatment and breathed his last.

He was the founder of ”Atmasantulana Village”, a holistic healing centre near Lonavala. Dr Tambe had written several books on spirituality, Yoga and Ayurveda. Tambe is survived by his wife Veena, sons Sunil and Sanjay and grandchildren. Prime Minister Narendra Modi conveyed his condolences on the death of Ayurvedacharya Dr Balaji Tambe. “Dr Balaji Tambe will be remembered for his numerous efforts to make Ayurveda globally popular, especially among the youth. He was admired for his compassionate nature. Pained by his demise. Condolences to his family and admirers. Om Shanti,” PM Modi tweeted. Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and other dignitaries mourned the demise of the legendary healer and researcher. A globally renowned legendary master in Ayurveda, Yoga and Music Therapy, Tambe’s Atmasantulana Village at Karla, near Lonavala designed on a Vedic lifestyle, in 1982.
