Rishipeedom’ Ready: Namajapa Procession Begins with Gopan Swami’s Mortal Remains

Thiruvananthapuram: The’Samadhi’of Neyyattinkara Gopan Swami was demolished, his body was taken out and the postmortem procedures were completed. Later, today, Gopan Swami’s body will be brought from Neyyattinkara Hospital in Nama Japa procession. A new Samadhi Mandapam has been prepared for Gopan Swami.

The new mandapam, called ‘Rishipeedam’, is located at the same place as the Samadhiyara that was demolished the other day. The family and organizations including Hindu Aikya Vedi and VSDP are planning elaborate ceremonies. Arrangements including a pandal have been made in front of the house.

It is expected that more people will come to participate in the ceremony. VSDP leader Vishnupuram Chandrasekharan said that the body will be taken out from the morgue at 2 pm and will be taken home with a procession of chanting the name of the deceased at 3 pm. The ceremonies led by the monks will then conclude at 4 pm.
