Thiruvananthapuram: Rahim, the father of 23-year-old Affan, who beheaded 5 people in Venjaramoott and killed them, has been under a travel ban in Saudi Arabia for two and a half years after his Iqama expired. He is in a crisis where he cannot even return home to see his loved ones one last time. Social organizations have started efforts to bring Rahim home as soon as possible.
It has been 7 years since Rahim came to the country. It has been two and a half years since his Iqama expired. Even if he wants to see his deceased family members one last time, he has to wait until the procedures are completed. Either find a sponsor, renew your Iqama, pay the fine, and have the travel ban lifted. Or, through the embassy, take them to the labor court and have them deported. It usually takes at least a week for everything to happen. Social workers are trying to get them back home before that.
Even if it is just to get the documents corrected, there will be a huge fine for illegal residence for almost 3 years. Social activists hope that this will be found out somehow. Rahim, who had been in Riyadh for years, was in crisis after his business collapsed.
