Maha Kumbh Mela Concludes Today with Final Amrit Sanan in Prayagraj

The 45-day-long Maha Kumbha Mela concludes today. Pilgrims are flocking to Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh, the venue for the world’s largest Hindu gathering. It is estimated that 63.36 crore pilgrims from all over the world have so far taken holy dip at the Triveni Sangam in Prayagraj, the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna and Saraswati rivers. Elaborate preparations have been made in Kumbhnagari for today’s Amritsnaam.

The Amritsnaam (divine immersion) began this morning. The Uttar Pradesh government has announced that 1.33 crore pilgrims took the holy dip on Tuesday alone. In the wake of the accident that occurred on the day of Amritsnaam on January 26, elaborate security arrangements have been made in Kumbhnagar.

Security personnel were on high alert throughout the night in view of the rush of pilgrims. Special surveillance has been put in place at places like the railway station, roads, entry points, and ghats. In addition to the police, paramilitary forces and the disaster management department are also on duty. Security personnel are also conducting 24-hour surveillance using AI cameras.
