Woman who assisted Asma’s delivery taken into custody

In the case of a woman who died during childbirth at a house in Chattiparamba, Malappuram, another person has been taken into police custody. The woman who assisted Asma during the delivery has been taken into custody by the police. Fatima, a native of Othukkungal, was taken into custody by Malappuram police. Earlier, Asma’s husband Sirajuddin had already been arrested in connection with the incident.

Sirajuddin is accused of deliberately forcing his wife Asma to deliver the baby at home. Since Asma died during childbirth, he has been charged with homicide, and also with destroying evidence afterward. Among Asma’s previous four deliveries, two had also taken place at home.

The police investigation revealed that the delivery took place at home because Sirajuddin did not allow her to go to the hospital. The post-mortem report indicated that the woman’s death was extremely tragic. It concluded that Asma died due to excessive bleeding after childbirth without receiving any medical assistance.
