Palakkad: A young man and woman were taken into custody from Palakkad Railway Station for possessing a large quantity of cannabis. The arrested individuals, identified as Sajal Haldar and Lauli Malakar, are natives of Hooghly, West Bengal. They were caught with 47.7 kg of cannabis, which was packed in three trolley bags.
The arrest was made during a joint operation by the Palakkad RPF Crime Intelligence Unit, Railway Police’s DANSAF Squad, and the Excise Department. The suspects had arrived at Palakkad Junction this morning via the Santragachi-Mangaluru Vivek Express. Upon inspection, officers discovered three large trolley suitcases filled with 47.7 kg of cannabis, estimated to be worth around ₹24 lakh. The Excise Department has registered a case, and further investigations are underway.
