A woman has filed a complaint stating she was scammed out of ₹87,000 while trying to access the lounge at Bengaluru International Airport. Bhargavi Mani, the victim, shared the details of the incident through social media.
According to her statement, she was at the airport attempting to access the lounge but did not have her credit card on hand. She showed a photo of her credit card to the lounge staff, who then instructed her to download an app and complete a facial scan for security purposes. However, after downloading the app, Bhargavi realized that her personal information had been compromised and that ₹87,000 was stolen.
“I downloaded the lounge pass app but didn’t use the lounge. Instead, I went to Starbucks for coffee. Later, I noticed I couldn’t receive phone calls. At first, I thought it was a network issue, but when strangers started answering my calls, I realized something was wrong. Upon investigating, I discovered that ₹87,000 had been charged to my credit card. The money was transferred via PhonePe,” she explained.
Bhargavi suspects that the fraudsters used the app to access her phone, reroute her calls, and block OTPs to complete unauthorized transactions.
She clarified that she never blamed Bengaluru International Airport or its authorities in her video. In fact, airport officials contacted her, understood the situation, and offered assistance. Following the incident, she reported the matter to the Cyber Crime Department and her bank, blocking her credit card.
