Another terror attempt foiled; army retaliates and kills two terrorists

In Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, two terrorists who attempted to infiltrate across the Line of Control were killed in an encounter with the army. The incident took place early this morning. A fierce exchange of gunfire occurred between the terrorists and the army. The Chinar Corps, a unit of the Indian Army, reported that weapons and ammunition were recovered from the slain terrorists.

Around three terrorists tried to cross the Line of Control in the Sirjian area of Baramulla early today. When the army attempted to thwart the infiltration attempt, the terrorists retaliated. In the ensuing heavy counterattack, the army successfully foiled the infiltration attempt and killed two terrorists. Military operations are still ongoing in the area.

Following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, high alert has been issued across Jammu and Kashmir. The number of people killed in the attack on tourists in Pahalgam, a major tourist destination in South Kashmir, has risen to 28. Twenty others were injured. Among those killed was a Malayali—N. Ramachandran (65), a resident of Edappally near Modern Bread in Ernakulam. The army continues its search operation for terrorists in the region.
