Kozhikode: An auto driver was brutally beaten up by a passenger in Thiruvambadi. The passenger beat up the auto driver, Shahul Hameed, a native of Pampizhanjappa.
The incident took place around 10 pm on Monday. The passenger asked to go from the auto stand at Thiruvambady bus stand to Koodaranji. However, when he reached Koodaranji, the passenger asked him to return the auto. When he reached an empty place after leaving the junction, he asked him to stop.
Shahul Hameed says he was beaten up when he asked for the auto fare. The passenger grabbed Shahul from behind by the neck, saying, “I will pay you the fare.” He then dragged him outside and brutally beat him, the complaint states.
He ran away after seeing the passengers of other vehicles passing by. Shahul suffered a broken hand and serious injuries to his legs and face in the attack. Thiruvambadi police have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident. The investigation is progressing based on CCTV footage from the surrounding area.
