CBSE to implement open book examination

New Delhi ∙ CBSE is conducting open book examination (OBE) on experimental basis for classes 9 to 12 next academic year. A final decision in this regard will be taken after conducting a trial basis in the selected schools in the months of November-December.

However, the officials also clarified that no decision has been taken to implement this in the 10th and 12th board exams. The test will be conducted in selected schools only. The exam will be conducted in the months of November-December. The scheme will be rolled out after evaluating the time taken by the students to read the book and write the exam.

CBSE’s move comes in the wake of the National Curriculum Framework’s new directive to consider the possibility of open book examinations. Earlier, Delhi University had conducted such an exam during the Corona pandemic. Then it went back to the old way.
