Union Budget: Record Allocation for Railways, Security Systems to be Boosted; Ashwini Vaishnaw

New Delhi: Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said that a record allocation has been allocated to Railways in the budget and will be used for improving safety systems.

1.08 lakh crore out of the total allocation will be used for safety related works like replacement of old tracks, improvement of signaling system, installation of armor system, construction of flyovers and underpasses.

Indian Railways has been approved for ‘Kavach 4.0’ security system integrating hardware, software, optical fiber, telecom tower, on track system and data center administration. Ashwini Vaishnav added that this will be implemented as soon as possible.

He informed that there has been demand to travel in general compartments and considering this demand, Railways has decided to build 10,000 more general coaches in addition to the existing 2,500 general coaches. The Union Minister also pointed out that the budget will help to implement these needs.
