Controversy over compensation for the family of a sanitation worker in the capital. Agreeing on compensation is taking a long time. What will be Kerala government’s stand on this issue? Earlier, when a Kozhikode sanitation worker died in a similar manner, Rs 10 lakh was paid. It was given immediately. Moreover, the wife of the deceased laborer in Kozhikode was given a job in the government service. Some of the controversial remarks were as follows
The state government says that the central government should pay compensation to the family of the young man who died while participating in the cleaning work in the Amazhayijanchan canal. However, Railway ADRM MR VG says that there has been no complacency on the part of the Railways in diluting the canal. The position of the railway is that the corporation is responsible for cleaning the ditch on the side of the railway. The corporation is responsible for city administration and waste disposal. Thiruvananthapuram city is of course governed by the Corporation. In any case, the compensation calculated for the death of Shivan Kutty Minister Joy is one crore rupees. Shiva’s child only has a dispute as to who should give it to him. The Thiruvananthapuram Corporation has an excess of Rs 100 crores in bank deposits. The indifference shown in cleaning the city is the negligence of the Corporation. Therefore, it is also pointed out that it is appropriate for the Corporation to pay compensation in this matter.
BJP state president K Surendran responded that the Thiruvananthapuram Municipal Corporation has seriously failed in the death of the worker and the corporation is trying to escape by blaming the railways. Joy is a victim of the administration’s mismanagement. The BJP state president also demanded that a case be filed against the mayor and officials for intentional homicide. K Surendran said that one crore compensation should be given to Joy’s family.
Meanwhile, the High Court has also intervened in Joy’s death. The High Court has asked the amicus curiae who investigated the Brahmapura garbage issue in Kochi to come to Thiruvananthapuram and submit a report on the Amaijhanchan Thot disaster.
