ED to probe benami land transactions of Kerala Ministers in Maharashtra

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has launched an enquiry into allegations that Kerala Ministers in the Left Government had acquired 200 acres of land in Maharashtra under benami names. The transactions were done with the help of a recently retired IAS Officers. The probe is against two ministers, said to be, of key departments. However, the probe team has not disclosed the identity of the ministers. The probe team has identified the benami and will be questioning soon. The land transactions is said to be in Dodamarg taluk of Sindhudurg District. The Enforcement Directorate has sought documents from the revenue authorities in Sindhudurg district. The case will be registered if the transaction is confirmed during the preliminary investigation. The case will be registered in Maharashtra. As the Kerala Government is already defensive in the gold smuggling case, this will pave the way for another upheaval in the state politics as the opposition taking up the issue.
