The whole world is in fear of the spread of the Covid epidemic. Many tests are conducted daily in the country to detect the disease. It is important to know if a person has Covid infection or not. However, one can also find out whether one is infected with Covid by examining the mask he wears or not.The experimental method of diagnosing the disease by examining the mask worn by a person suffering from Covid is going on internationally. Mahatma Gandhi University from Kerala is also participating in this.
A device called ‘mass spectrometry’ is used for this. This is done by examining the structure of the molecules. Thereby, the test method is to understand the protein of the corona virus.Test results will be available within ten minutes. MG University Pro Vice Chancellor Dr. CT Aravinda Kumar is the Indian Coordinator of this research project. Their experimental research was successful yesterday.
The corona virus is present in the airways of a person infected with Covid. Therefore, the mask he wears will be infected with the virus. In this case, a piece of the mask can be cut off and tested to see if he is infected. The research was conducted jointly by the School of Environmental Sciences, School of Biosciences and Thalappadi Inter University Center for Biomedical Research under Mahatma Gandhi University.
MG University also has research partners from abroad in this experiment. The research partners are the University of Sao Paulo in Brazil, the University of East China, and the Ministry of Healthcare Russian Foundation Laboratories.
