Pahalgam terror attack; Demolition of houses of suspected terrorists halted

Following the Pahalgam terror attack, the demolition of houses belonging to suspected terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir has been halted. The move came after widespread protests.

Authorities stated that no houses were demolished using explosives yesterday. However, they clarified that strict action would continue against those supporting terrorist organizations. Raids and other operations at the houses of suspected terrorists are still ongoing.

In the aftermath of the terror attack, district authorities had demolished houses of individuals suspected to be involved in terrorism. Political parties including the National Conference, PDP, and CPI(M) came out in opposition to this. A major point of criticism was that the houses being demolished belonged to civilians, including women and children.
