Bangladesh Continues Cruelty Against ISKCON Monk Chinmoy Krishna Das Prabhu; Bail Rejected for the Third Time

Reports confirm that the Bangladesh court has once again denied bail to Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu, an ISKCON monk, marking the third rejection by the Chattogram court. Concerns over his health persist as he remains imprisoned under the alleged influence of the country’s fundamentalist government.

An 11-member Supreme Court legal team led by Apurba Kumar Bhattacharya appeared in court for him. After hearing the arguments for about half an hour, Chattogram Metropolitan Sessions Judge MD Saiful Islam announced that the bail application had been rejected. Chinmay Krishna Das was produced in the court amidst tight security. He is in jail for the 39th day. The bail application was rejected on the ground that his lawyer did not appear on the 3rd of last month. ISKCON Vice President Radharaman Das said that the rejection of the bail application is unfortunate and that we will look into why the petition was rejected.

He was arrested on November 25 on charges of anti-nationalism for allegedly insulting the flag of Bangladesh. He was taken away by the police from Chattogram International Airport. Later, other ISKCON monks who met him in jail were also taken into custody. Meanwhile, concerns continue over Chinmay Krishna Das’s health. In a statement, the Bengali Hindu organization Bangladesh Shomilito Sanatan Jagaran Jote said that his health condition is deteriorating and that he is not receiving proper treatment.

Although he was taken to the hospital twice from jail, he was not given any significant treatment. Chinmay Krishnadas had physical problems like diabetes and asthma. His condition was deteriorating in jail. This protest has been going on in Bangladesh for over a month. During this period, the Bangladesh government had also denied the travel of more than 50 ISKCON monks who had reached the airport to go to India. The monks were also detained, prohibiting them from going to India. The Bangladesh border authorities denied permission to more than 50 monks, alleging that they did not have valid travel documents. However, the Bangladesh government denied travel to those who had arrived with valid visas and documents.

Similarly, the explanation given by the Border Police officials was that they had valid passports and visas, but they were denied travel permission on the grounds that they had not sought special permission from the government for the trip. At the same time, several protests were held condemning the actions being taken against the ISKCON monks. The persecution of Hindus that took place in the country after the formation of the Muslim League in August 1946 is now also taking place in Bangladesh. The persecution of Hindus in Bangladesh is a continuation of the persecution of Hindus carried out by the then political leadership, which was greedy for power, the British government, which always believed in divide and rule, and the left wing, which gave all its support to this. He also accused us of having an opposition leader who goes to foreign countries and holds closed-door discussions with leaders of Bangladesh and other countries who are against India.

If Hindus in Bangladesh, which used to have 28 percent of believers, have now become 8 percent, it is the result of genocide committed by Islamic terrorists. Already, about 3,000 violent incidents have taken place against Hindus. Although the situation in Bangladesh at that time could have been resolved in favor of India, the then Indian government was handing over the region to terrorists. The bitter consequences of this are being felt by the minority there, including Hindu believers. Preparations have been underway for ages to turn Bangladesh into a religious state. The ecosystem for this was prepared using NGOs. Organizations like NED and SAP were carrying out this. This was made a reality by creating chaos among students and organizing protests through social media. The result of this is the current atrocities. He said that such plans are being carried out by terrorists in India as well and precautions need to be taken.
