Heavy Rain Expected in Kerala Due to Cyclone

The state continues to brace for heavy rains today as a result of the cyclone, with the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing both Orange and Yellow alerts across various districts.

An Orange alert has been declared in four districts—Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, and Thrissur—where extremely heavy rainfall is expected. The IMD forecasts rainfall ranging between 115.6 mm and 204.4 mm over the next 24 hours in these areas.

In addition, a Yellow alert has been issued for Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Palakkad, Malappuram, and Kozhikode districts. These areas could witness isolated heavy rains, with expected rainfall ranging from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm over the next 24 hours. Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are also predicted.
