An Israeli minister has criticized Iran and Qatar, highlighting the need for the Abraham Accords to be a shared goal between India and Israel. The minister referred to Iran and Qatar as the “largest financial sources” of global terrorism, calling on India to join the effort against terrorism.
Iran and Qatar are accused of providing financial support to Hezbollah and Hamas. The focus, according to the minister, should be on ensuring that Iran does not become a nuclear power. This would allow for the further expansion of the Abraham Accords with Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, and other moderate Arab countries. The minister emphasized that India, which faces significant challenges from terrorism, is working closely with Israel to expand cooperation.
Nir Barkat, Israel’s Economic and Industrial Minister, stated that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was the first foreign leader to contact Israel after the October 7, 2023, attack. He expressed gratitude to Modi for his support, noting that both countries face similar challenges from terrorism. “I must thank Modi for being the first to reach out to Netanyahu and offer support to Israel after the October 7 attack,” said Nir Barkat.
